Although we appreciate vintage digs,
Supreme Femme will never promote breaking the bank for them. If you are lucky
enough to stumble upon a vintage piece through 'thrifting" or in your
grandmothers attic that’s wonderful!! But if you’re ready to indulge in the
wonderful world of retail, be very mindful of your budget. The shopping
experience can be overwhelming in general, but you will really send yourself in
a complete tizzy when you see something unique and rare. However, in this economy
it is important that things be functional and multi purposeful, not just simply
because you want it. Accessories are an investment. I will repeat that again. Accessories are an investment. This is because throughout all of the fashion trends we endure you will always
be able to create a new look with them. Before any purchase I always go by the industry’s famous
evaluation when weighing the cost of clothing: Splurge vs. Steal. This method
allows you to ask yourself a line of questions like: Is this something that is worth the extra bucks? Is it one of a kind? Can you afford it? Steal on
the other hand just simply means "Girl are you crazy you better get it ...
as matter of fact get another one in a different color!!!" But if funds
are low there are a lot of equally great vintage inspired accessories that you
can find anywhere. Some of my favorite stores that I find them in are Urban
Outfitters, Forever 21, Nordstrom, and Lulus. I’ve listed some tips below for
shopping for accessories:
Think about what you already have. Search through your closet. Are you in the mood to
"revamp" your wardrobe or to add to your collection? Have you ever thought about wearing
your outfits in a different way?
Look for accessories that you will
be able to wear with "staple" solid colors. This way you will be able to experiment with different
colors, patterns and prints.
Buy in sets. It may be hard to find something similar to the style in the
future. Also it can add a sophisticated appeal to your look.
Be practical: Seek accessories that can be worn with multiple outfits in
your daily life as well as those special outings.
Shop Around. Vintage and vintage inspired accessories can be found in multiple
locations. Check out flea markets, online, vintage stores, street fairs,
mall etc.
I hope these tips will help you.
Shop on! Until next time.
